Gas rates to drop in Southern Alberta

Natural gas rates are set to go down in Southern Alberta.
According to the Herald, those not locked into long term contracts will see a 12 per cent drop in January due to lower natural gas prices.
The regulated rate from Direct Energy will fall to 2.957 per gigajoule in the first month of 2012, down from 3.362 in December.
The average residential bill will be around 12 dollars less then January 2011.
Natural gas prices in our province have dropped 30 per cent in 2011 due to high supply and lower demand in Canada and the United States.
