First Calgary baby of 2012!

A pair of new parents have some bragging rights as they welcomed the first Calgary baby of 2012.

Madeleine Claire Fredricksen came into the world early Sunday morning, delivered at Rockyview General Hospital.

It may have been a long wait, but for new parents Jennifer and James Fredricksen it was all worth it.

“The initial hospital visit was midnight on the 31st, and then we got sent home,” he said. “Then came back at 5:00 a.m. and then she was very stubborn in coming out, waiting 17 hours, until 12:06 a.m. on the 1st, and then we had a little baby girl,” James says.

Madeleine is the first baby of 2012 for the city, weighing in at a healthy six pounds, 11 ounces.
