Busy year for MP’s

It may be a new year but MP’s wont be getting much rest.

Over the last 12 months, federal politicians dealt with a military mission in Libya, a historic election, and the death of Jack Layton.

The NDP will be one of the biggest stories for the first half of the year.

Its leadership race is expected to heat up ahead of the March vote and political scientists believe the new leader could make or break the official opposition.

The conservative government on the other hand will be busy slashing away at the budget as it tries to get the deficit in order. We know many programs are facing cuts, but which ones will lose cash and by how much remains to be seen.

There are also growing tensions on the international front. Canada has placed many sanctions on Syria over recent months although there isn’t any official talk of military action. Some experts believe if the U-S decides to take action, Canada would join the mission.
