Calgary Public Library has big plans

Calgary’s Public Library is moving full steam ahead in 2012, looking at proposals for a new central library, opening a Saddletowne branch and launching a three-year strategic plan.
City council has committed $175-million to the new central library, but it’s expected to cost between $250-million and $350-million.
To close the gap, a special capital campaign to fundraise for that library will begin late this year.
Library Foundation Executive Director Paul Royston tells The Calgary Herald more than 2,000 responses and donations have flooded in during the direct mail campaign, and that money will help.
Meanwhile, the Saddletowne library branch opens its doors later this month.
