Hughes wants in the legislature

After almost a week of speculation, Ken Hughes says he will seek the PC nomination for Calgary-West.
The longtime Alberta politician and bureaucrat is hoping to return to the elected office after a 19-year absence.
Last week, Hughes resigned as chair of the Alberta Health Services Board.
Hughes says he contemplated the move for months, but made his decision when Allison Redford was elected. He is the best option to create a new Alberta.
He says he stands behind his record as chair of AHSB, “I think its important that people recognize under our leadership in Alberta Health Services, we created a very open process to insure that physicians who felt that they had concerns they had an avenue by which to raise those.”
The spot was held by incumbent MLA and current Finance Minister Ron Liepert, who will be retiring. So far, Hughes and police Sergeant Mike Ellis are the only two to put their names in the ring.
