Calgarians are asked to keep indoors tonight, after Environment Canada issued an extreme weather warning on Wednesday.
As a result of the wind, the Municipal Emergency Plan was activated at 3:40 p.m and will stay in effect until
5:00 a.m. Thursday.
The City is asking you to stay inside and try not to drive around the city.
Truck transport drivers are advised to refrain from driving with empty trailers in and around Calgary.
The Calgary Fire Department and the Calgary Police Service have also issued several road closures due to the high wind, including 3rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, S.W. which could affect Thursday morning’s commute.
Motorists are advised to listen to local media for the latest updates on closures.
