Downtown Calgary Herald block to be demolished

About 60 tenants of the old Calgary Herald block downtown will have to find a new place to do business.
According to The Calgary Herald, the property owner, Brookfield, has sent out termination of lease notices ahead of a demolition planned for later this year.
The old Herald building will be wiped out, along with several other small buildings on the block along 6th and 7th Avenues southwest and 1st Street.
The company says in its place, they may build a 50-storey, one-million square-foot office skyscraper, but plans are still being considered.
Tenants have to be out by June 30th, with demos slated to get underway soon afterward.
