Calgary schools trash junk food

As kids head back to class following the Christmas break, they’ll notice something missing from their schools; junk food.

The Calgary Board of Education’s new nutrition policy kicked-in on January 1st.

It means no more chips, chocolate bars, and other so-called “junk” in vending machines and cafeterias.

According to The Calgary Herald, all foods that fall under the category “choose least often” by provincial nutrition guidelines will be off the menu.

Also, at least half of the food offered at high schools must be from the “choose most often” category.
