Some NW residents upset over energy development

Approval of the drilling of a sweet oil well within city limits is not getting gushing support.
Erin Stabbler with the Rocky Ridge Royal Oak Community Association tells The Calgary Sun the process went a lot faster than expected.
The General Manager of Kaiser Exploration tells 660News work on the project began two years ago, when they started to seek regulatory approval from the Energy and Resources Conservation Board.
Ned Beattie says the project was green-lighted last month.
He says they are not drilling deep enough to come in contact with any sour gas, and unless people actively seek out the site, they won’t even know they are there.
Drilling is expected to begin this summer.
The well is located behind the Walmart Store, west of 85th Street near the University of Calgary’s Spyhill Campus.
