Take the long way home?

Other than the snow, it was a pretty normal morning on city roads.
According to police, there were only four injury and 11 non-injury collisions during the Tuesday morning commute.
City Roads spokesperson Peter Jacoby tells 660News, his department was on top of the situation right from the word go
“Crews were able to take a pro-active response last night and get down the calcium chloride, the de-icing agent,” says Jacoby. “So that prevented any freezing overnight, and now we’re applying salt which will be effective in to the -10’s.”
“Because we’re not seeing a huge need to plow in a lot of the city,” adds Jacoby, crews are now turning their attention to the afternoon commute. “Our belly plows are out but they’re really doing spot control. And then they’re applying the materials based on the weather conditions, that’s appropriate. The commute in the afternoon should be relatively clear of snow.”
If anything, the crews in charge of city streets are well rested. So far this winter, the dearth of the white stuff has kept them relatively idle.
“They’re professional drivers,” says Jacoby of what’s facing snow crews for the rest of the day. “They know how to get this stuff” (de-icing agents) “down. They know their routes backwards and forwards, and so” (it) “shouldn’t be a problem for them.”
