Altenberg crash shouldn’t have happened

The pilot of the Canadian men’s Bobsleigh team injured in a training run in Germany says the crash shouldn’t have happened.
Chris Spring says he has no issues with the Altenberg track itself, but he can’t say the same about the roof.
“My sled hit the roof and broke through the roof hitting some solid structure up there, pretty much stopping the sled in its tracks and this shouldn’t happen. It’s like having a guard rail on a mountain highway that’s made out of papier-mache.”
He says the material, construction and reinforcement of the roof needs to be examined.
Spring says his lower back is still numb and his broken bones are healing well but he doesn’t expect to be sliding anytime soon.
