Youth-Link Calgary scares kids away from ecstasy

Recent news of ecstasy related deaths in Calgary has been an eye-opener for many parents, but not for Youth-Link Calgary at the police Interpretive Centre.
One exhibit at the centre has Calgary kids confronting drugs in a very powerful way.
The exhibit is called Dead-End Street. It takes young visitors down a series of common paths that lead to kids turning to drugs.
Interpretive Centre spokeswoman Janet Pieschel admits it’s shocking stuff – especially for the thousands of grade six kids who’ve been through it. “Is our exhibit a bit graphic? Sure it is. But how else is it going to be memorable? Do we say anything that’s not true? No we don’t.”
A recent report says nearly 7 per cent of Alberta kids in junior high have tried ecstasy.
