An investigation is officially underway after a man was found dead in an Erin Woods home on Saturday morning.
Police were originally called to a break and enter in the 100 block of Erin Circle SE at 9:15 a.m.
Duty inspector Craig Skelton tells 660News the homicide unit has now taken over the investigation.
The 9-1-1 call was made by someone not connected to the home.
Skelton says homicide should have an update by Sunday. This would be Calgary’s first murder of 2012.
Residents nearby are shocked to hear about the possible homicide.
Scott Parker tells 660News his daughter noticed something suspicious.
“I hadn’t noticed anything until I went into the alley and I saw the police tape. It’s not like I heard cop cars. Actually, my daughter has seen the cop car out front and she asked why they were in the area,” Parker says.
Jill has lived in the area for 17 years and says she can’t believe it.
“That is shocking but until we know what it means, I mean could be natural or could be anything right?
Five homes have been taped off in the area.
Tom had his house taped off and says he has seen a lot of people going in and out of the home being investigated.
