Canmore climber dies in Argentina

A Canmore woman has reportedly died in a mountain climbing accident in Argentina.
She’s been identified as Carlyle Norman and it’s believed she was hit by falling rock while rappelling down a mountain in the Patagonia region.
Benoit Gosselin, owner of Vertical Addiction, a backcountry and climbing shop in Canmore tells 660News, the community has lost a true gem.
Gosselin says she was a very positive and outgoing person, was really keen and happy to go climbing and just a great person to be around.
He says it’s a huge loss for the climbing community and every year it seems they lose somebody else.
He adds, it’s a dangerous sport and the reality is, sometimes bad things happen.
Foreign Affairs says it’s been in touch with the woman’s family.
A rescue operation is underway to recover her body.
Her own blog on a climbing website says Norman was a yoga teacher and adventurer who spent her spare time looking for new climbing challenges.
