Couple charged in Vulcan murder

A couple has been charged in the death of Vulcan senior, Otto ‘Bunty’ Loose.

Mounties have now formally laid a first degree murder charge against 35-year-old Tim Engel of Claresholm and an obstruction of justice charge against his 28-year-old common law wife Bobbi Joe Parks.

At the time of the murder, Engel was on house arrest on kidnapping and assault charges.

Loose was reported missing more than a week ago from his Vulcan area home and was found murdered in a wooded area near Claresholm on the weekend.

Engel remains in custody and will be back in court on Lethbridge on Friday, while his wife has been released and will be in Claresholm court tomorrow.

Mounties say Engel’s other charges, including three counts of kidnapping and assault with a weapon, were laid in late December and are not connected to the murder of Loose.

RCMP allege his killers befriended the 77-year-old and robbed him before his death.
