Residents allowed back Thursday afternoon after CO scare

The carbon monoxide is gone but up to 400 people who live in an upscale downtown condo building still can’t go home.
They were forced out of the Marquis at 11th street and 6th avenue southwest early Tuesday morning when fire crews found unsafe levels of CO in the building.
Stranded residents have been staying at the nearby Kerby Centre, where they have been told to register at the information if they require access to their suites.
An ice jam on the Bow River caused water levels to rise and seep into the building through the elevator shaft. Building management tried to get rid of the water with gas pumps, emitting the gas.
Crews are now using electric pumps and the CO is gone but residents can’t get back in until all the water is pumped out. The fire department is expecting residents to be back in their homes by mid-day Thursday.
Access on 6th Avenue at 10th Street is restricted to two lanes and will remain so through to the Thursday morning commute.
