COP back up and running

After bundling up inside much of last week to escape the deep freeze, Calgarians couldn’t wait to get outside to enjoy some warm weather.
Canada Olympic Park was shut down much of last week because of the city’s cold snap but Dale Oviatt with Winsport Canada says there was one benefit to the closure.
“We had our snow guns blazing 24 hours a day and we added about 50 centimetres to the base of the hill,” Oviatt said.
That brings the hill snow pack to 125 centimetres, something most skiers and boarders say was well worth the wait.
Oviatt adds the hill was busier this week compared to most, all thanks to the warm weather.
“I think a lot of people were cooped up over the last week or so and then the opportunity to come out and get some fresh air and get back and enjoy some exercise was one of the reasons people decided to come out,” Oviatt said.
