Decision on re-trial in Dustin Paxton case expected

A man accused of assaulting his roommate will find out Monday if a judge feels he deserves a new trial.

Dustin Paxton’s defense team applied for a judicial stay in the case.

They claim some of the Crown’s witnesses were coached during testimony, making the trial unfair.

If the stay is denied, Justice Sheilah Martin will give her verdict on the charges on February 6th.

The charges were laid after Paxton’s former roommate was dropped off at a Regina hospital suffering from brain damage and other injuries in April 2010.
