Parliament resumes

It’s a friction filled first day of parliament, as MP’s butt heads over the governments plan to reform pensions.
New Democrat Finance Critic Peter Julian says his party will fight tooth and nail to protect retirees.
“If the government is trying to push through these measures there will be a strong and energetic opposition from the NDP, we believe very strongly this is not the way to go,” said Julian.
But the government house leader argues the changes are needed and no current seniors will be affected. The plan is still being worked out and likely won’t be implemented for another 10 years.
The conservatives claim the opposition’s plan of maintaining the status quo would lead our country in to a debt crisis like the one in Greece.
