Calgary singer going to Big Apple

A Calgary teen is heading to New York to perform at one of the world’s most famous venues.

Dallas Hayes-Sparks, 16, will head to the Big Apple to sing at Carnegie Hall in February.

The Calgary Sun reports she’ll sing among some of the best young vocalists in North America as a part of the 2012 American High School Honours Performance Series.

Hayes-Sparks was spotted by a director of the event while her Heritage Christian Academy choir was singing at a competition in Chicago.

He asked her to apply after he heard her hit a high “A” note during the performance.
