Pet owners warned about brazen coyote attacks

Calgarians are being warned about coyote attacks within city limits.
The words of caution come from the staff of a northwest veterinary clinic where a dog was recently put-down following an attack by a coyote.
The Calgary Sun reports the Maltese was mauled near its owner’s property which backs onto Country Hills Golf Club.
A Fish and Wildlife officer says dealing with coyotes is tough, because they aren’t allowed to poison or shoot them.
He says pet owners should carry bear-spray or fog-horns when walking through green spaces to ward off coyotes.
