Calgary Christian group plans to target convicted pedophiles

A Calgary based Christian group says it plans to launch a new website that will list the names and photos of convicted pedophiles.

The announcement follows one of the largest child porn busts in Canadian history.

Last week, police in Ontario arrested 60 people who now face a combined total of 216 child porn related charges.

Not yet launched, www.findapedophile.com would list names, photos, even the crimes committed by convicted sex offenders.

Sgt. Rich Veldhoen with the Calgary Police Service’s High Risk Offenders Program tells The Calgary Sun there’s already efforts being made to monitor known pedophiles and some lawyers in the city say they’re concerned that privacy rights may be violated if the website crosses the line between protecting the public and “outing” an offender.

Canada Family Action plans to launch the site next month and Calgary Police Association President John Dooks says although he understands the groups motive, he hopes everything is done in a lawful way.
