N.E. parents up in arms about potential school closure

Parents in the northeast community of Marlborough Park are angry they could lose a public elementary school in the community.

According to The Calgary Herald, The Calgary Board of Education is considering closing Roland Michener School and moving the kids to Cappy Smart School, both currently under-utilized.

During a public meeting Thursday night, the CBE gave parents a chance to offer feedback; mother and secretary-treasurer for the Michener School Council Kelli Morin did just that.

She says she feels the board already has its mind made up, so she’s considering switching her kids to a Catholic school because it’s closer.

The CBE says no decisions have been made.
