Arson Unit investigates southeast restaurant fire

Police say the Arson Unit is investigating a restaurant fire that broke out in the southeast community of Forest Lawn Friday night.

It happened around 11 p.m., prompting the evacuation of eight residential units on the second floor of the building.

Crews had to bust down the door of the Eastgate Restaurant to put out the small fire, which Batt. Chief Don Huska says was contained to the eating area of the restaurant.

“The fire sprinklers kept the fire in check; the damage could have been much more,” says Batt. Chief Huska.

The 12 people living in the building were allowed to return for the night.

No one was hurt.
