Paint your face red and white, grab your mittens and hot chocolate, and head to Canada Olympic Park, Saturday.
It’s the last day of the 2012 FIBT Bobsled and Skeleton World Cup with the final event being the four-man bobsled.
“That’s really a truly unique event,” spokesperson Chris Dornan tells 660News. “Watching these guys — huge, huge athletic men sprinting 50 metres and four of them hopping into a little sled in a matter of five seconds — it’s quite a spectacle to watch.”
“When spectators come down here, the athletes are very approachable, very fan friendly and quite interactive,” adds Dornan. “Young kids and Canadians get to reach out and interact a little bit with their Olympic heroes and I think that’s what makes it so unique.”
The competition isn’t for the faint of heart. The athletes will be hurtling down a 1450 metre track at high speeds.
Admission is free for everybody — adults, kids and seniors.
