Bradley Rietze sentenced in death of step-daughter

Life in prison with no parole for 25 years.

That was the sentence Wednesday for 47-year-old Bradley Wade Rietze after he pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the sex slaying of his 17-year-old step-daughter Brittney McInnes two years ago.

He admitted to strangling the teen girl after sexually assaulting her in the Canyon Meadows home he shared with her and her family in January of 2010

Victim impact statements from the victim’s mother, brother and sister were delivered in court in an emotional scene.

Brittney’s mother, Kelly Wallace, said she regrets ever bringing her daughter’s killer into the family and ended the statement with, “Rest in peace, princess.”

Kelly says while this chapter in her life is over Brittney will never be forgotten. She says her last and fondest memory of her daughter was the night before she died. Brittney said a prayer to her like she did every night.

Rietze apologized to both families as well as to his neighbours and community, adding his actions are unforgivable and he’ll always live with the pain he took her away.
