A consulting firm is proposing oil companies start working together to help avert major staff shortages in the industry.
Deloitte recommends a four-pronged approach to the labour shortage; calling for collaboration between companies, within companies, by institutions and with communities.
The firm suggests companies need to find better ways to attract workers than just hiking wages and recommends groups that already work together to tackle issues like tailings ponds extend their services to fixing the projected labour shortage.
According to The Calgary Herald, 52,000 workers will be needed in the oil sands by 2015.
