More than 800 community leaders and supporters were on hand at a United Way breakfast Thursday morning to help the organization honour those companies and individuals who lead the way in raising $54-million dollars over the last year.
United Way capped its most successful campaign ever with the “Spirit of Gold” awards recognizing individuals and companies for outstanding support last year.
Among those honoured was Pembina Pipeline for leading the way in engaging younger workers to participate.
Pembina’s Shaun Davis says her company ran an outstanding campaign.
“We blew our original budget out of the water so for us, really, helping the community and coming forward as a single group is really what it’s all about for us.”
More than 80 organizations were nominated for the awards this year in a variety of categories.
