U of C gets a shared neuroscience grant

A $5 million commitment from the province will bring leading neuroscientists to Alberta to exchange ideas with researchers in Calgary, including those at the University of Calgary’s Hotckiss Brain Institute.
Advanced Education and Tech Minister Greg Weadick says it’s going to help world experts turn new findings into therapies that help people.
“What this really will help us do is take research being done in the lab and help move it to solutions in hospitals, in homes and clinics where Albertans will see the benefits of the research being done,” explains Weadick.
The funds are committed in the memory of Harley Hotchkiss, the former co-owner of the Calgary Flames, who passed away in June of last year.
His nearly $40 million in donations helped establish the Hotckiss Brain Institute.
