Occupy Calgary costs on the rise

The cost of last year’s Occupy Calgary protest at Olympic Plaza could be a lot higher than originally thought.
The city has asked Bylaw Services to compile a report looking at all expenses incurred.
Initial costs were around $53,000 dollars and bylaw boss Bill Bruce tells 660News, while the report is still in its preliminary stages, it could be closer to $100,000 dollars when you factor in things like staffing costs, damages, maintenance and extra garbage pickup.
He says right now they are just validating and auditing the numbers and making sure nothing has been left out.
He adds, council wants to know what has been learned from this and what would be done differently if it ever happens again.
A full report is expected to be presented to city council by late March.
