Snow, snow everywhere!

Calgary may have dodged a heavy snow fall on Saturday but outside the city it’s a different story.
Don Szarko with AMA tells 660News many Alberta highways already have 10 centimetres of snow.
“We just came off some warm weather and the road surfaces are still warm and we’ve had a melting, so there is now snow on top of ice. It is pretty deceptive.”
Szarko adds drivers need to take extra caution, slow down and be sure to have emergency gear in their vehicles.
Meanwhile on Friday night, city crews were busy anti-icing major roads around Calgary in preparation for the snow fall.
Julie Yepishina-Geller with the city tells 660News if the snow picks up, they’ll be ready.
“If we do get a call from one of our districts saying they have a lot of snow, we do have the capacity to send additional help.”
She adds there will be plenty of notice if a parking ban is placed.
