Former MRU student president charged with robbery

A former Mount Royal University Student President has been charged with robbing a bank.
27-year-old Meghan Darcy Melnyk is accused of robbing a southeast Servus Credit Union, on Wednesday.
The woman gave a note to a teller, demanding money while indicating she had a weapon. She walked out with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Bank staff managed to get the license plate number for the suspect vehicle and the police helicopter tracked her down.
A weapon as well as a toque and sunglasses were found in the car.
She is facing a few charges, including committing an indictable offence while disguised as well as on outstanding warrants for fraud, uttering forged documents, and breach of probation.
