Historic oilsands alliance formed for environment

It may be the first of its kind. 12 energy giants have formed a partnership to lessen their impact on the environment.
Canada’s Oilsands Innovation Alliance, or COSIA for short, will look at new methods of carbon capture and land reclamation.
A dozen CEO’s signed the charter today at the Hyatt Regency, downtown.
At the time of the signing, Dr. Dan Wicklum, a scientist by trade, had been chief executive of the group for only a few hours.
He says COSIA will not have a research budget but instead be a hub for its 12 members. “Public expectation is across all sectors, not just natural resources or the oilsands. People are demanding that all companies improve their environmental performance,” said Wicklum.
Members told the packed ballroom they will continue to be competitive but when they work together for the environment, everyone can win.
