Celebration ends in tragedy

Friends of four Filipinos killed in a crash on the QE2 say they tried to talk them out of going because of the bad weather.

The group went anyway; it was supposed to be a celebration of Josephine Tamondong’s newly-acquired permanent resident status.

But just before midnight Sunday a suspected drunk driver hit their SUV head-on.

The Globe and Mail reports Tamondong is in hospital with broken legs and other injuries.

A Cochrane man is facing 14 charges including impaired driving causing death and failing to provide a breath sample.
