CTrain funding confirmed; no date set for delivery

The money train is pulling into Calgary, but nobody knows when it will arrive.

The province is sending $473-million in funding to help expand the CTrain network.

However, according to a letter sent to city administrators, the money won’t arrive until 2013 or later.

The Calgary Herald reports the money will pay for 50 new CTrain cars, as well as the construction of the northwest line and planning of the southwest line.

The city is now exploring whether it can lend against the promised funding so it can get its hands on the money sooner.
