Mar ordered to take unpaid leave

Gary Mar has been ordered to take an unpaid leave of absence after questions have come up about a possible breach in ethics after he held a fundraiser in Edmonton.

Jay O’Neil the spokesperson for the Premier tells 660News Redford found out late Friday afternoon and is taking it very seriously.

“To have the Ethics Commissioner to take a look at it as the appropriate body to take a look at and ensure that if there were any issues with the way the fundraiser was conducted that he is the best person to look at that.”

O’Neil says, he is not sure how long it will take the Ethics Commissioner to conduct his review.

Mar is Alberta’s Trade Representative in Asia.
