Family friendly spring break travel ideas

Jody Robbins a contributor for sweetspot.ca says there are some great deals out there if you are willing to be patient.

She says Cuba is always a great deal but she has been hearing about another spot you may be interested in, “One place I keep hearing again and again is Sayulita, Mexico and it’s about 50 km away from the Puerto Vallarta airport.  There are tons of options there, you can bring your tent and camp in a safe zone on the beach or you can live fairly large and rent a house with a cook for affordable prices.”

Robbins says there are some great places stateside as well and suggests visiting Washington, DC for their national Cherry Blossom Festival which is celebrating
100 years.

With all the national museums located there, including the Smithsonian, there will be plenty to see and best of all, a lot of the museums are free.

If you aren’t looking to go too far from home, Jody says don’t forget about the gem we have in our own backyard, “Lake Louise is a great destination that really garners international attraction but I don’t really know how many locals really realize how famous it is.  There are great places like the Great Divide Lodge, it is quite close to Lake Louise and they offer great deals on lodging and lift tickets and children are welcome there.”

If you are desiring a little European culture,  “Kinder Hotels are dotted throughout the Alps, in Austria, Italy and Germany and these hotels as their name suggests caters to children.  The hotels typically have organic food, fantastic play facilities and that includes free daycare and babysitting and they have spas and swimming lessons.”
