Officer shoots at aggressive dog

An officer shot at a dog Thursday afternoon near a school in the southwest community of Evergreen.
Police say a call came in about two aggressive dogs on the loose near Everglen Cres. at around 3 p.m.
Teachers were asked to keep the kids inside the nearby Our Lady of the Evergreens Elementary School because the dogs ran into the school yard.
Duty Insp. Chris Butler says the first officer to arrive on-scene was alone, and the dog attacked him, so he fired his gun, missing the dog.
Both dogs were eventually contained and they’re in the custody of Animal Services until officials can find their owners and determine appropriate charges.
