Sunshine Village record snowfall

We are just halfway through the month of March and already Sunshine Village Ski Resort in Banff is basking in record breaking snowfall!

According to The Calgary Sun, more than 215 centimetres of snow has fallen at the ski resort making for some of the best ski conditions in recent memory.

Just over 123 centimetres fell earlier this month during the biggest storm the Resort has seen in 40 years.

Senior Vice-President of Resort Operations, John Scurfield,  says that “This
is Sunshine Village’s biggest March snowfall in history and the snow keeps coming.”

Better to enjoy those prime conditions at the resort than in the backcountry, say staff, as numerous avalanche warnings have been issued in that area in the last several weeks.

Mountain Operations Manager, Al Matheson, suggests “Resort skiing is the safest option” right now.

Sunshine Village is open to the public though May 21st.
