Over a dozen people where honoured at a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal ceremony in Calgary Monday morning.
The 19 recipients from Calgary and area have been recognized for making significant contributions to the community.
“Queen Elizabeth II has devoted her life to service, and it is that spirit of serving the greater good that lies at the heart of what these medals represent,” said Lieutenant Governor Ethell. “The exemplary Albertans chosen to receive a Diamond Jubilee Medal understand the importance of giving back, and their dedication is what makes Calgary and Alberta a great place to be. These medals are a way to thank the leaders among us and to celebrate the central role our Queen has long played in the fabric of Canadian life.”
The medals were handed out by His Honour Col. (Ret’d) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell and Her Honour Linda Ethell.
