A recent RBC poll suggests the majority of Canadians would rather stay put and apply a little elbow grease to their current home rather than purchase a new one.
It seems home is where the heart is to an overwhelming number of those asked with 83-per cent saying they would rather make their current home more attractive than relocate to a new one.
Three-quarters of Canadians say they would be willing to spend about $10,000 on home upgrades.
RBC Vice-president of Personal Lending, Richard Goyder says, “You can live in the home that you love without breaking the bank as long as you have a prudent plan for financing your project.”
The bank says that if you plan on renovating your home in the hopes of boosting its value, focus on the kitchen and bathrooms because those are the rooms that buyers tend to notice the most when shopping for a new home.
