There’s speculation Premier Alison Redford will drop the writ Monday in a rather interesting location.
Mount Royal University professor Lori Williams said she believes Redford will make the announcement in Danielle Smith’s riding of Highwood, south of Calgary.
“It’s basically saying she recognizes there’s a significant battle between the Conservatives and the Wildrose,” she said. “But also it’s signalling their (PCs) strength in that particular riding.”
“They are sort of throwing down the gauntlet in a place where the competition is strong,” she said.
Williams added because the PC candidate for that area, John Barlow, is well-liked, it could make for for an intense battle.
Some campaign signs have already started popping up, which Williams said is a little surprising.
