Albertans head to polls April 23rd

Premier Alison Redford has visited Lieutenant-General Donald Ethell and asked him to dissolve the legislature. That sets up a 29 day election campaign, with Albertans going to the polls on April 23rd.
Redford’s Progressive Conservatives are gunning for a 12th consecutive majority dating back to 1971.
Their main opposition is expected to come from right-wing rival, the Wildrose party under leader Danielle Smith.
At dissolution, the Tories had 67 seats in the 83-seat legislature, the Liberals had eight, the Wildrose 4, the NDP 2, the Alberta Party one and there was one Independent.
Opposition critics say the Tories have lost public trust because of problems in health care, education and the workings of government.
Redford has said a Wildrose government would mean a wrecking ball for schools and hospitals.
