Men charged in “Dine and Dashes”

After a string of robberies and “dine and dashes,” Calgary police have charged one man and have a warrant out for another.
Over a five month span beginning in October, over a dozen restaurants and pubs were robbed of cash from tills and were the victim of meal frauds.
Detective Mihai Stan says the two men are friends and worked together.
“There is usually only one waitress working during the day, they try to get her to go to the back to get some more food or drinks. At that they take the opportunity to go behind the till, take all the money from VLT’s, cash float and everything and obviously take off and not pay for there food as well,” said Detective Stan.
34-year-old Michael Basil Ranni has been charged with five counts of meal fraud, and seven counts of theft under $5,000.
20-year-old Christopher Wolfgang Kraus, is wanted on 12 outstanding criminal warrants.
