Canada’s corporate health is strong

Canadian firms are in good shape to weather another economic crisis or even take advantage of a recovery.

CIBC says its new index of corporate strength, which is comprised of nine key measures, shows that Canadian firms are actually in the strongest position in years.

The overall position is above the long-run average and higher than even pre-recession levels.

CIBC says an above average index reading corresponds with higher levels of investment, which contributes to economic growth.

Strong cash holdings and low debt also put firms in a good position to withstand another economic horror show, if it comes to that.
