Gearing up for the 2012 Provincial vote

The staff at Elections Alberta is scrambling to make final preperations ahead of the April 23rd election.

The Director of Election Operations and Communications tells 660News they need to line up 17-thousand people who can work on Election day, staffing the polls from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day.

Drew Westwater says they have a good base to work from, but more people are needed and people can apply on-line.

Westwater says about a week ahead of the election they will also be mailing out voter registration cards, which will contain all the information people will need from where to vote to hours of operation.

1.4 million people are eligible to vote.
