Pranks highlight quiet day on the campaign trail

It’s a quiet Sunday on the campaign trail with only three of the five main party leaders making public appearances.
Premier Alison Redford is the only one in Calgary, where she made a stop at Arts Central to talk about her campaign so far and what kind of turnout she expects at the polls April 23.
“Four years ago, we had only 40 per cent turnout at the polls,” said Redford. “And I think we’re going to have a high turnout this time, because people are thinking about what their options are; they’re thinking about what they want the future to be.”
NDP leader Brian Mason is in Edmonton canvassing and attending a public forum.
Liberal leader Raj Sherman is also campaigning in Edmonton, while Wildrose leader Danielle Smith is taking the day off.
While it was a slow day of campaigning, the parties didn’t letting it pass without a few April Fool’s Day pranks.
The Wildrose Party issued a release saying they would try to merge Alberta with Saskatchewan to form a new province called Saskberta.
The Liberals responded to a fake plan from the PCs to scrap the airport tunnel plan and to build a Calgary airport overpass instead.
The Alberta Party proposed a plan to install a high-speed gondola connecting Edmonton and Calgary.
The NDP posted a video showing leader Brian Mason trying to discipline Wildrose Party members ahead of question period.
