Be prepared for sticker-shock at the gas-pump.
Prices jumped by almost a dime per litre in Calgary Tuesday, with many stations charging as much as 121.9 cents for a litre of regular.
Energy Analyst Peter Linder with emerging equities warns the worst is yet to come.
“I think we’re going to see record, or near-record high gas prices going into the summer,” says Linder.
He says a mild winter chipped into supplies as more people drove.
Meanwhile, refinery closures due to a slow economy, and for maintenance has contributed to less fuel making it to market.
Linder anticipates prices of $1.40 per litre by the time summer arrives.
However, Dustin Coupal with Gasbuddy.com says things could be worse.
“Gas prices in Vancouver are at all time highs, Toronto is expected to move to all-time highs Wednesday,” he points out.
Vancouverites are paying an average of a $1.43 per litre, while Toronto gas stations are pushing $1.40.
