Let the festivities begin! Year long “Cultural Capital” celebrations were unveiled Wednesday.
Everything officially kicks off May 11, with “Sweet City Opening Celebration,” at the BMO Centre.
The theme song for the year long celebrations is the Stampeders “Sweet City Woman.”
“Calgary is an amazing city with an abundance of rich and diverse culture,” stated Karen Ball, Calgary 2012 Executive Director. “It’s our time to show-off, brag about and enjoy our cultural wealth. Through our use of grassroots initiatives and web-based engagement tools, this celebration year is designed to involve all Calgarians in creating and celebrating their cultural identity.”
