RCMP say it was a tip from the public that led them to a motel in Rocky Mountain House Tuesday night where they eventually arrested Tyler Darrell Leeder and a 17-year-old girl.
Leeder is wanted for injuring an RCMP officer during a traffic stop near Irricana as well as a string of bank robberies in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The officer was injured when their police cruiser was rammed by a stolen truck.
Inspector Frank Smart says if not for the tip that came in around 8:30 Tuesday night, the pair could still be on the run.
“These individuals were very mobile, especially Mr. Leeder, that’s what makes it challenging,” said Inspector Smart.
The 17-year old girl, who RCMP say is from Lethbridge and missing for 2 years, was arrested at the same time and could possibly be facing charges.
Leeder gave himself up peacefully overnight after officers surrounded the motel.
